Introduction — stability is offense ethics
Offense without stability is vandalism against your own field. FieldRtxFieldAbs.hpp.Wave CFL — intuition on a grid
Explicit wave integrators allow information to travel at most one cell per step. If c·Δt exceeds Δx, the scheme tries to move wave energy farther than the mesh can represent — instability follows. Host reads render resolution for Δx proxy, WaveSpeed for c, TimeScale for effective Δt multiplier. Product waveCFL ≤ 1 is the guard line.
Operators who crank WaveSpeed in prompt without reading stderr may never see NaN — host scales c down first. That is care, not censorship. Compare list AnalogFields after aggressive set — admitted value may differ from requested.
Diffusion CFL — why Δx² matters
Diffusion stiffens faster as meshes refine. thermoCFL = α·Δt/Δx² ≤ 1 shrinks admissible Δt when resolution upscale halves Δx.
